Daemen University's Travel Policy

The Committee on Safety and Security in Study Abroad met on March 3, 3020 and articulated the following policy.

The following events would compel Daemen University to temporarily suspend or cancel our study abroad programs if:
  • The U.S. State Department advisory level for the country is elevated to Level 4, “Do not travel” or Level 3, “Reconsider travel”. Please be aware that all Level 3 countries will be determined on a case-by-case basis, depending on the reason for the Level 3 and in conjunction with experts in the area and approval of the Committee on Safety and Security in Study Abroad.
  • The CDC elevates the alert level to a Level 3, “Avoid all non-essential travel”.
  • The U.S. or other country governments recommend immediate departure or evacuation of all U.S. citizens.

While these factors are currently our guiding criteria for suspension or cancellation, Daemen may, at any time, expand this list of criteria if it is deemed to be in the best interest, safety and wellbeing of our participants.

Everyone’s tolerance for risk differs, and it is important for students to have a serious discussion with their families and Global Programs about what risks and uncertainties they are willing and permitted to assume.
